The Warren Group, premier real estate information company in the northeast, known for its award-winning publications, Banker & Tradesman and The Commercial Record, custom publications, events management and the trusted source for real estate and banking data in New England and beyond is seeking an Advertising Sales and Events Intern to support the initiatives of our Advertising and Events departments . Your work will provide you with a basic understanding of the operational aspects of advertising and events departments, sales and marketing strategies, and the interaction of multiple departments within the company through active, hands-on work with our staff. You will become a critical member of our dynamic team.

In addition to working closely with the Advertising & Sales Coordinator, you will also work with the Director of Business Media, the Publishing Group Sales Manager, the Events Manager and the Events Coordinator. You will be given the opportunity to meet with the Advertising Account Managers to learn and discuss sales strategies and will be invited to attend occasional departmental sales meetings.

Position Title: Advertising Sales and Events Intern

Reports to: George Chateauneuf, Director of Business Media

Pay: Unpaid Internship.

Requirements: Academic credit required. (Depending on circumstance, may be open to accommodating pass/fail in lieu of academic credit if internship is required for graduation.) Minimum commitment of 16 hours per week. (Open to accommodating fewer weekly hours based on duration and academic credit criteria.)

Timeframe:
Winter: January to May
Summer: June to August
Fall: September to December

Duration: To be determined based on academic credit criteria.

Hours: Part time, to be determined based on academic credit criteria, coursework and department scheduling.

Minimum Requirements: Intern must be enrolled at time of internship at an institution of higher learning that has an established internship program. Additionally, must be a student with a major or course concentration appropriate to facilitating the goals and needs of our advertising and events departments (i.e., business, marketing, etc), and should have completed at minimum basic introductory course work in that academic major or concentration. Intern must have operational understanding of Microsoft Office programs including Excel and database applications; excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work independently and efficiently on concurrent projects.

Core Competencies: Ideal candidate should be outgoing, Web-savvy, a solid writer, creative thinker, exceptionally well organized, have a strong work ethic, be adaptable to change, and have good time-management skills in order to meet stringent deadlines.

Primary Functions / Principle Duties: The goals and objectives of your internship with The Warren Group will be to assist with the management, development, implementation and maintenance of the advertising and events departments’ initiatives for our major newspaper/magazine publications, many custom publications, events and trade shows, and to support these two departments in various other capacities.

Your work will provide you with a basic understanding of the operational aspects of advertising and events departments, sales and marketing strategies, and the interaction of multiple departments within the company through hands-on involvement. In addition to working directly with the Director of Business Media, you will also work with the Publishing Group Sales Manager, the Advertising & Sales Coordinator, the Events Manager and the Events Coordinator. You will be given the opportunity to meet with the Advertising Account Managers to learn and discuss sales strategies and will be invited to attend occasional departmental sales meetings.

Overall, your internship at The Warren Group is designed to provide you with hands-on experience and valuable training relevant to your interest in exploring the field of advertising sales, events coordination and marketing.

You will have the opportunity to work on an array of initiatives during your internship at The Warren Group, with hands-on involvement performing the following primary functions and principle duties (not inclusive):
• Coordination of upcoming events;
• Coordination of aspects related to upcoming special sections for Banker & Tradesman newspaper and The Commercial Record magazine;
• Creation and implementation of direct-mail campaigns for custom publications magazines and newspaper special sections;
• Creation and maintenance of an event calendar for association events appropriate and relevant for our sales account managers to attend;
• Updating of the advertising sales database;
• Ensuring that necessary marketing materials are available for use by the advertising account managers.

Working Conditions: Work location will be at The Warren Group offices located at 280 Summer Street, 8th Floor, Boston, MA 02210. Our offices are downtown in the Fort Point Channel Innovation District, only a couple of blocks from South Station. Intern working hours will be within the normal operating hours of The Warren Group – Monday through Friday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, excepting company holidays. Ideally, this position will work a minimum of 20 hours per week. Duration and exact schedule will be determined when internship is confirmed.
