Timothy M. Warren Jr., Chief Executive Officer
Timothy M. Warren Jr., chief executive officer of The Warren Group, represents the fourth generation of family ownership and management. He joined The Warren Group in 1973, became its president in 1988 and CEO in 2004.
A graduate of Bowdoin College in Maine, Tim had stints as a high school math teacher and busboy at IHOP before joining the family business. At the start of his career, Tim’s father and grandfather both encouraged him to work in the company’s book publishing division.
After successfully selling the book publishing operation, Tim focused his attention on how the company’s newspapers, Banker & Tradesman and The Commercial Record, handled real estate records. He brought the first computers to the company in 1986 and created a database of real estate sales data and a new line of publishing and online products.
As president and CEO, Tim has played a vital role in geographically extending the company’s comprehensive real estate database, growing its publishing and events business and expanding public relations efforts.
Tim takes pride in the company’s reputation of providing valued information to professionals throughout New England. “We have benefited from being a trusted source of news and information – it has allowed for our growth and our longevity,” he said.
He often provides analysis of real estate issues to news outlets in print such as The Boston Globe and Boston Herald; on radio stations such as WBUR and WBZ; and on television with numerous appearances on shows such as Fox 25 News, NECN Business, The Chronicle (WCVB) and the Emily Rooney Show (WGBH).
Tim serves on the advisory board of the Rappaport Institute for Greater Boston, the Family Business Association Advisory Council and is an active member of First Parish in Cambridge. Tim and his wife Sarah are curious travelers with recent trips to Turkey, Morocco and Tanzania. Tim enjoys the outdoors with backpacking and cycling trips and by tending a vegetable garden in his Cambridge backyard. He is an avid runner, completing his first marathons in New York and Boston after the age of 60.
