The Warren Group Names Vincent M. Valvo As New Group Publisher.

BOSTON, Oct. 30, 2007The Warren Group today named award-winning journalist Vincent Michael Valvo as its new group publisher, overseeing all of its print, online and data product initiatives.

“This is an exciting time to be in the information business,” said David Lovins, president of The Warren Group. “There are many opportunities and challenges to find new ways to reach out to the business community. Vince is a proven innovator. He knows the real estate and financial markets. And he’s going to bring an energy and vision to our operations that will keep us at the top of our game.”

Valvo currently serves as editorial and online director for Worcester-based New England Business Media, publishers of the Hartford Business Journal, the Worcester Business Journal and Mainebiz. Prior to that, he spent six years as publisher and editor of Hartford-based Law Tribune Newspapers, a division of the national legal publisher ALM Media.

His tenure at both companies coincided with record revenues, profits and circulation gains.

Valvo’s appointment is a homecoming for him. He was associated with The Warren Group in several capacities from 1984 until 2000. Beginning as a contract reporter for the company’s Connecticut newspaper, The Commercial Record, he rose to become the publisher and editor for all the company’s print products. At The Warren Group’s flagship, Banker & Tradesman, he was associate publisher.

“The Warren Group is a special place,” said Valvo. “It’s a 135-year-old company with a heritage of looking to the future. It combines some of the most respected business-to-business products with a corporate culture that encourages innovation and excitement. The invitation to rejoin this enterprise was a dream come true.”

Valvo, 47, has been an active journalist for more than 30 years. He has written for the New York Times, the Boston Herald, the Hartford Courant, National Real Estate Investor and others. He has won numerous journalism awards, including the prestigious First Amendment Award from the Connecticut chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, the Distinguished Service Award from the Connecticut Freedom of Information Commission, and a first place award for editorial writing for Banker & Tradesman from the New England Press Association.

A Greenfield, Mass. native and property owner, he currently lives in West Hartford, Conn.

Valvo will officially join The Warren Group on November 19th.
