BOSTON – Feb. 23, 2016 – Single-family home sales in Massachusetts increased more than 25 percent in January, according to a new report from The Warren Group, publisher of Banker & Tradesman.

January home sales in the Bay State increased to 3,422 from 2,736 in 2015. The median sale price of a single-family home in January decreased .48 percent in Massachusetts to $320,000 from $321,550 last year.

“As expected, the number of sales rose year over year in January; the weather was much more conducive to doing business than last year at this time,” said Cassidy Murphy, editorial director of The Warren Group. “With a solid close to the market last month and the spring market just around the corner, 2016 is starting off strong.”

Condo sales for the month of January climbed to 1,330 from 1,031 in 2015, a 29 percent increase. The median condo price in the Bay State decreased 3.04 percent to $290,875 from $299,999 last year.
