BOSTON, August 17, 2012 – Banker & Tradesman has named its 2012 Credit Union Heroes, an annual award recognizing local credit union professionals who go above and beyond to better their institution and community.

The Credit Union Heroes award celebrates those individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the industry and the community, giving freely of their time, energy and resources for volunteerism, community service and charity. With the help of Banker & Tradesman readers, a group of judges sorted through dozens of nominations and chose 11 of the most civic-minded and generous nominees to be named this year’s Credit Union Heroes.

“We searched for the best of the best – and these professionals have shown that they are deserving of this award through their contributions and efforts both inside and outside of their credit union,” said Timothy M. Warren Jr., CEO of The Warren Group, publisher of Banker & Tradesman.

Banker & Tradesman will be running profiles of each winner in a special section on September 10. The winners will also be honored that evening at the 2012 Credit Union Heroes Awards Dinner at the Hyatt Regency Boston hotel. Lark Jurev Palermo, president and CEO of Habitat for Humanity Greater Boston Inc., will give the keynote speech, speaking about the importance of civic leadership. Plus, a portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to Habitat for Humanity.
